About the Speakers
Dr. Roger Collin
Dr. Roger Collin is the Lead Laboratory Microbiologist at Fonterra in New Zealand. With more than 20 years of experience in dairy microbiology with Fonterra and AgResearch New Zealand, his professional experience spans dairy microbiology technologies for detection of pathogens, monitoring of dairy production environments, spoilage, and dairy laboratory operations.
Dr. Collin has enduring interests in diagnostic tests and technologies, and their evaluation and validation for dairy microbiology applications. He has presented at national and international food microbiology conferences, and he holds a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Biochemistry from the University of Waikato, New Zealand.
Ronald L. Johnson
Ronald L. Johnson is the Immediate Past President of AOAC INTERNATIONAL. He has been a member of the AOAC INTERNATIONAL Board of Directors since 2005, and he is also past Chairman of the Board of Directors of the AOAC Research Institute, a subsidiary of AOAC INTERNATIONAL. His contributions to AOAC include serving in volunteer roles for the AOAC method programs, service on governance and advisory boards, and, as a member of AOAC’s International Stakeholder Panel on Alternative Methods, continuous work on the ongoing development of harmonized, internationally accepted standard validation schemes for microbiological analytical methods for food and environmental testing. He is also the recipient of several AOAC awards and has authored or coauthored numerous papers and methods.
Mr. Johnson is also Associate Director of Validation Services for Scientific Affairs in the Industry division of bioMérieux, Inc. Mr. Johnson has over 39 years of combined experience in industrial and clinical diagnostics. He is a graduate of Lindenwood University in Missouri with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a Master of Business Administration.
