Microbial variability has been built into the knowledge base using a population based approach where we take multiple strains from different geographic regions and different sources (clinical and industrial) collecting spectra from all of them and including them in the knowledge base.
Technical variability is also included when we add species to our knowledge base by growing the strains on different media types under different growth conditions and testing using different operators and instruments.
