Overview:
In this course, Dr. Bland will explore the best practices for collaboration between pharmacists, microbiology, staff, and prescribers to maximize stewardship outcomes when managing bacteremia. Dr. Bland will also highlight key clinical outcomes related to blood culture rapid diagnostic testing and successful integration with antimicrobial stewardship programs.

Objectives:
At the end of this session, you will be able to:
- Discuss overview of goals of antimicrobial stewardship specifically with regards to blood culture management
- Describe current methods for identifying organisms (traditional and rapid diagnostic) as well as antimicrobial susceptibilities testing modalities
- Describe key clinical outcome studies related to blood culture rapid diagnostic testing including integration with antimicrobial stewardship programs
- Identify best practices of collaboration between pharmacists, microbiology staff, and prescribe to maximize stewardship outcomes when managing bacteremias
