About The Speaker

Dr. Ed Septimus is board certified in both internal medicine and infectious diseases. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) and was on the IDSA Antimicrobial Resistance Committee, the SHEA Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee, and the IDSA Quality Measurement Committee. He was the first recipient of the IDSA Watanakunakorn Clinician Award. In 2011 he was appointed to the Healthcare-Associated Infections/Preventable Adverse Events Advisory Panel for the Texas Department of State Health Services. He was awarded the John S Dunn Sr. Outstanding Teacher Award in 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2014. He is on the FDA Anti-Infective Drug Advisory Group and is co-chair of the NQF Patient Safety Steering Committee. He holds a faculty position as Adjunct Professor at Texas A&M College of Medicine, Senior Lecturer Department of Population Medicine Harvard Medical School, and Professor Distinguished Senior Fellow, School of Public Health, George Mason University. He has published over 120 articles and chapters.

About The Moderator

Mr. Gonzalez joined bioMérieux in the molecular biology R&D department at headquarters (France), since 1998. With more than 24 years of versatile experiences across R&D, laboratory management and medical affairs in France, China and Singapore, he currently serves bioMerieux as the ASPAC Medical Affairs Lead, covering all product ranges and responsible for product expertise, medical training, medical education, and key opinion leader engagement at regional level. Prior to current role, he was the BioFire Medical Advisor of Asia Pacific region. He had 4 main missions: supervise BioFire post-market studies, provide medical trainings, promote the clinical and economical utilities, and coordinate for all Global Health projects. Earlier experiences include the management of post-market studies in Global Medical Affairs department in France, pre-market studies in China, laboratory management of the Dr. Christophe Mérieux Laboratory (IPB-CAMS / Fondation Mérieux), and R&D.
