Overview:
This course will explore how using VIDAS® B•R•A•H•M•S PCTTM (procalcitonin) and BIOFIRE® FILMARRAY® Blood Culture Identification Panel results can optimize antimicrobial stewardship in patients with sepsis.
Objectives:
At the end of this session, you will be able to:
- Discuss the definition and the kinetics of procalcitonin
- Examine how biomarkers and multiplex PCR assist in the diagnosis of sepsis
- Examine how these results benefit patient care when used in conjunction with antibiotic stewardship program
